I have years of experience providing one-on-one assisted stretching at StretchLab and other assisted stretch studios, where I’ve worked extensively with clients to improve flexibility and mobility. In addition, I have gained valuable experience working in health clinics, hospitals, and spas, allowing me to develop a comprehensive skill set for treating a wide range of conditions.

Beyond my clinical work, I have dedicated much of my life to self-discovery through the practices of Yoga, Breathwork, and Meditation. These personal experiences have deepened my understanding of the mind-body connection and influenced my therapeutic approach.

Driven by a passion for continuous learning and a strong desire to empower individuals, I founded my independent practice, where I provide customized treatments that address the unique health needs of each client, helping them lead more balanced and fulfilling lives.

For your stretch therapy session, dress similarly to how you would for a yoga or exercise class. Opt for comfortable, flexible clothing that allows for a full range of motion, as I will be guiding you into various positions. It’s important to wear clothes that are breathable and that comfortably conceal your body during the session.

Additionally, please wear a fresh pair of socks to your appointment. This will help maintain hygiene during your stretch therapy session.

For your first visit, please complete the health intake form at least 48 hours prior to your appointment. You can fill out the form through your Jane App profile.

Remember to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water, and avoid strenuous exercise, caffeine, or fasting before your visit.

During a stretch therapy session, I will guide you through stretches that are synchronized with your breathing, helping to enhance relaxation and improve the effectiveness of each stretch. The focus is on increasing flexibility and mobility without causing pain—only a mild, natural discomfort that is common during stretching.

Stretch therapy sessions typically last 30 or 60 minutes, and each session is customized to meet your individual flexibility goals and needs. After your session, you can expect to feel lighter, more relaxed, and more agile, experiencing improved mobility and a greater range of motion.

During your initial visit, I will review your physical health history form to identify areas of tightness, muscle imbalances, pain points, previous injuries or surgeries, and any specific areas of concern. Based on this assessment, I will create a personalized assisted stretch therapy treatment plan tailored to your unique needs. Together, we will also discuss the ideal frequency and duration of follow-up sessions to ensure you achieve the best possible results.

Yes! Assisted stretch therapy is covered by extended health benefits. All of my services are performed within my professional scope of practice ensuring you receive the highest quality care.

For optimal results, it’s recommended to schedule a 30- or 60-minute assisted stretching session at least once a week. Consistency is key, so commit to regular sessions for a minimum of 90 days to allow your joints and fascia to fully adapt, improve flexibility, and minimize pain.

Thai massage focuses on relaxation through compressions, stretching, pulling, and rocking of the muscles. Similar to yoga, Thai massage involves passive stretching, where the receiver relaxes while the therapist works on the body.

In contrast, Stretch Therapy requires active participation from the receiver. The goal is to improve mobility and flexibility, both in the short and long term. This technique involves active stretching, where muscles are not only lengthened but also activated to build strength. Stretch Therapy is commonly used in rehabilitation and has been proven to be highly effective.

The health intake form is required only on your first visit and is updated annually. It helps me stay informed about any medical conditions or medications you may be taking. Providing accurate and honest information ensures that I can offer you a safe and effective treatment tailored to your needs.

If you are a new patient, please arrive at least 5-10 minutes before your appointment. To ensure your session starts on time, make sure to complete the health intake form through your Jane App profile at least 48 hours prior to your treatment.

If you’re running late for your Stretch Therapy session, please text or call to inform me. While I will do my best to accommodate late arrivals, please note that due to scheduling constraints, it may not always be possible. If you’re late, your session will still end on time, but rest assured, I will ensure you still have an effective and enjoyable session.

Stretch Therapy sessions are non-refundable. If you have any concerns or questions about your treatment, please feel free to reach out to me at ana@anadecaninirmt.com, and I’d be happy to discuss them with you.

For your massage therapy treatment, you can wear as much or as little clothing as you feel comfortable with. You will be covered with a sheet and blanket at all times to ensure your privacy and comfort. I will uncover one area at a time (e.g., your leg) to treat and will cover it again once the treatment is complete. Before starting, I will explain the treatment plan in detail, including which areas of the body will be touched and uncovered. If you feel uncomfortable with any part of the treatment, simply let me know, and I will adjust it to your comfort level.

For your first visit, please complete the health intake form at least 48 hours prior to your appointment. You can fill out the form through your Jane App profile.

Remember to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water, and avoid strenuous exercise, caffeine, or fasting before your visit.

The health intake form is required only on your first visit and is updated annually. It helps me stay informed about any medical conditions or medications you may be taking. Providing accurate and honest information ensures that I can offer you a safe and effective treatment tailored to your needs.

During your first massage therapy session, I will likely begin with an initial assessment to understand your medical history, any specific concerns, and your goals for the session. I will explain the process in detail, discuss the types of massage techniques that best suit your needs, and answer any questions you may have.

The frequency of your massage therapy treatments depends on your individual needs and goals. Here are some common reasons why people incorporate regular massage therapy into their lives:

  1. Preventative Health: To maintain muscle pliability, improve posture, and reduce stress.
  2. Pain Management: To address chronic pain, headaches, back and neck pain, and other body aches.
  3. Body Awareness: To become more conscious of how your body functions and increase body awareness.
  4. Specific Conditions: Massage therapy is highly effective for treating conditions that require focused treatment plans, including:
    • Injuries to soft tissues such as sprains and strains
    • Activity-related syndromes like Runner’s Knee or Plantar Fasciitis
    • Treatment of contractures resulting from prior injuries or surgeries
    • Reduction of post-surgical swelling, inflammation, scar tissue, and pain
    • Rehabilitation after the removal of a cast
    • And more…

I will provide personalized recommendations regarding the frequency and duration of your sessions based on your treatment plan. Sticking to your recommended plan will ensure you get the maximum benefit from your massage therapy treatments.

In summary, the frequency of massage therapy depends on your specific needs. Some individuals may benefit from weekly sessions, while others find that monthly appointments are sufficient for maintaining their well-being. I will work with you to determine the optimal treatment schedule based on your health and lifestyle.

For your first appointment, I recommend booking an initial 60-minute treatment. This will allow me time to:

  • Assess which areas need focused attention.
  • Conduct any necessary assessments or tests.
  • Provide recommendations for your personalized treatment plan.

After the initial session, follow-up massage therapy appointments can be scheduled for either 45, 60, or 90 minutes, depending on your specific needs and the treatment plan we develop together.

A full-body massage typically takes at least 90 minutes. If you are taller or heavier than average, I recommend booking a double session, which consists of two 60-minute sessions back to back.

If you are a new patient, please arrive at least 5-10 minutes before your appointment. To ensure your session starts on time, make sure to complete the health intake form through your Jane App profile at least 48 hours prior to your treatment.

Massage therapy is generally safe for most people; however, certain medical conditions may require caution or specific techniques. To ensure a safe and effective treatment, it’s important to inform your massage therapist about any existing health issues, such as heart conditions, pregnancy, or recent surgeries. This helps the therapist tailor the treatment to your individual needs and avoid potential risks.

If you’re running late for your Massage Therapy session, please text or call to inform me. While I will do my best to accommodate late arrivals, please note that due to scheduling constraints, it may not always be possible. If you’re late, your session will still end on time, but rest assured, I will ensure you still have an effective and enjoyable session.-What If I am late for a session?

RMT stands for Registered Massage Therapist. Registered Massage Therapists are highly trained healthcare professionals who complete a minimum of 2200 hours of education, which includes both practical and theoretical training. They must also pass comprehensive written and practical exams to earn their RMT designation.

RMTs are regulated by the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO) and are bound by the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA). This regulation ensures that RMTs adhere to high standards of practice, maintaining ethical conduct and professional competency. Additionally, RMTs must maintain liability insurance to practice safely and protect their clients.

RMTs are widely recognized by other healthcare professionals, including Doctors, Chiropractors, and Physiotherapists, as valuable contributors to the healthcare system. They play an essential role in treating a variety of conditions, including musculoskeletal issues, stress, and injury recovery.

The main difference between a Masseuse/Masseur and a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) lies in education, regulation, and professional standards.

Masseuse/Masseur: These terms were historically used to describe individuals offering massage services. However, they are not regulated titles and may refer to people without formal education, certification, or insurance. Individuals calling themselves Masseuses or Masseurs may not have received specialized training in therapeutic techniques or anatomy.

RMT (Registered Massage Therapist): An RMT is a healthcare professional who has completed an accredited massage therapy program, typically lasting 2-3 years, and is regulated by a government body such as the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO). RMTs must pass licensing exams, adhere to ethical standards, and maintain insurance coverage. They are trained in anatomy, physiology, and various therapeutic techniques to treat specific health conditions.

Choosing an RMT ensures you receive safe, effective, and professional care, as RMTs are held to strict guidelines that prioritize your health and safety. If you’re seeking therapeutic massage therapy, it’s important to verify that your practitioner is a registered and regulated RMT to ensure high-quality care.

The terms “licensed,” “certified,” and “registered” are often used interchangeably, but they have important distinctions, especially when it comes to healthcare professionals like massage therapists.

Licensed or Certified: These terms generally refer to individuals who have completed some level of training in their field but are not necessarily regulated by a governing body. People who are “licensed” or “certified” as massage therapists may have as little as 500 hours of training, and they typically do not possess liability insurance. They are not included in extended healthcare plans and are not subject to the same professional standards and regulations as Registered Massage Therapists (RMTs). Additionally, they are not governed by a professional college or bound by the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA).

Registered (RMT): The term “Registered” refers to a massage therapist who has completed an accredited program, typically 2-3 years in length, and has passed licensing exams to become a member of a regulatory body like the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO). RMTs are held to strict professional standards, adhere to ethical guidelines, and are required to maintain liability insurance. They are included in extended health care plans and are regulated by the CMTO, ensuring they provide safe, high-quality care. Only individuals who are members of the CMTO can legally use the titles “RMT” or “MT.” Using these designations without being registered is illegal.

-Beware of Modified Designations: Recently, some individuals have attempted to modify their designations to sound more credible, such as “Registered Aroma-Massage Therapist” or “Registered Myomassology Therapist.” However, these titles are not recognized by the CMTO and do not guarantee that the practitioner is regulated or holds the same qualifications as a true RMT. The only designation officially recognized and regulated by the CMTO is RMT (which may be shortened to MT).

Tip: All Registered Massage Therapists carry a photo ID registration card issued by the CMTO. If you are unsure about a practitioner’s credentials, ask to see this card to verify their status.

Yes, I offer direct billing to most insurance companies. If your policy doesn’t cover the full cost of treatment, you will only need to pay the remaining balance.

To ensure a smooth billing process, please complete the direct billing form online when you fill out your health intake form through your Jane App profile, at least 48 hours before your scheduled appointment.

If you have any questions about the billing process or how to submit claims, feel free to contact me at ana@anadecaninirmt.com.

To take advantage of direct billing for your treatment, please complete the direct billing form online when you fill out your health intake form through your Jane App profile at least 48 hours before your scheduled appointment. Don’t forget to bring your insurance card with you on the day of your visit. After your treatment, I will submit the claim to your insurance company on your behalf, provided your insurer participates in direct billing.

Any balance not covered by your insurance will be your responsibility and must be paid at the time of service.

Sometimes, the insurance company may encounter issues with processing the claim and may instruct me to collect payment directly from you. If this occurs, the credit card on file will be charged for the treatment.

If you have any questions about the billing process or how to submit claims, feel free to contact me at ana@anadecaninirmt.com.

While some insurance companies may state that they cover 100% of your treatment, they often have a cap on the maximum amount they will pay per treatment. If the cost of your treatment exceeds this cap, you will be responsible for covering the remaining balance.

We recommend that you consult with your insurance provider to fully understand the details and limits of your policy.

Absolutely! You have the option to pay upfront and submit your own insurance claim to your provider.

Yes, I  provide receipts at the end of each session that can be submitted for insurance reimbursement. These receipts include all the necessary details required to process your claim with your insurance provider.

No, you do not need a referral from your doctor to receive treatment. Registered massage therapists do not require a referral. However, if you are using a health insurance plan, some providers may require a doctor’s referral for reimbursement of certain services. I recommend checking with your insurance provider for specific details about your plan’s coverage.

No, massage therapy and stretch therapy treatments are not covered by OHIP. However, many extended health care insurance plans include coverage for massage therapy and stretch therapy. Check with your employer to see if your company benefits package includes this service.

For individuals who are self-employed or do not have a plan through work, extended health care coverage is also available through providers like Manulife and other insurance companies.

Yes, you can claim massage therapy and stretch therapy as a tax-deductible medical expense, similar to dental or eyeglass expenses. This can help reduce your taxable income, even if you don’t have extended health care coverage.

To determine if you have extended health care insurance, start by reviewing your insurance booklet, if available. Alternatively, you can:

  • Ask your employer – Your employer should be able to provide details about your coverage.
  • Contact your insurer directly – Call your insurance provider and have your Group and ID numbers ready. When speaking with them, ask the following questions to clarify your coverage:

       – What specific coverage do I have, if any?

       – Is there a deductible? If so, is it per calendar year (e.g., January to December)?

       – Is there a maximum amount covered per visit?

       – Do I need a doctor’s note to submit a claim for massage therapy and stretch therapy benefits?

I have a 24-hour cancellation policy for all services. Cancellations made within 24 hours of the scheduled appointment or missed appointments will be charged the full service fee.

To cancel your appointment, you can log into your JaneApp profile, text me at 416-820-5774, or email me at ana@anadecaninirmt.com

Please note: Same-day reservations cannot be changed, canceled, or refunded.

To avoid any cancellation fees, please make sure to cancel your appointment at least 24 hours before your scheduled time.

All treatments are paid for after the session is completed.

I accept payment via cash, e-transfer, Visa Debit, Mastercard, Debit Mastercard, American Express, Discover, Diners Club, and UnionPay.

At the end of your treatment, I can process direct billing on your behalf, or I will provide a detailed receipt containing all the necessary information for submitting to your extended health insurance provider. You can also use this receipt to claim a medical expense on your personal income tax return.

In Canada, for a health profession to be exempt from charging HST, it must be regulated in at least five provinces. Registered Massage Therapists (RMTs) are currently a regulated health profession in only three provinces: Ontario, Newfoundland, and British Columbia. However, legislation is in progress in several other provinces, including Alberta, Manitoba, and Nova Scotia.

The RMTAO is actively working to ensure that Massage Therapy becomes regulated in additional provinces and will continue advocating to the Canadian government for an HST exemption as soon as possible.

Until then, most Massage Therapists are HST-registered under the Canadian government’s rules and are required to charge HST for their services.

Massage Therapy and Stretch Therapy treatments are non-refundable. If you have any concerns or questions about your treatment, please feel free to reach out to me at ana@anadecaninirmt.com, and I’d be happy to discuss them with you.
